Working with projects

A deal does not end at Day 100. Neither does the project.

Continue an integration as its value creation plan, bring several deals under one plan, copy a project, hand it to another AtlanticM&A account, or start the next deal from a template.

From integration to value creation

Two ways to move on once the integration is done, depending on whether one deal becomes the plan or several deals come under one plan.

Continue as Value Creation

The same project becomes the value creation plan.

Everything the project holds carries over, including its people, its LBO model and its earnout, and synergies become benefits. Value creation phases are added after the integration's own, with a hold of three, five or seven years. Closing conditions, the TSA and knowledge transfer become read-only history. A divestiture needs every TSA service exited first. It cannot be undone.

The project owner, or an account owner or admin.

Add to a Buy and Build

Several deals, one plan.

An integration or buy-side divestiture is added to a new or existing Buy and Build, which is a value creation project. It becomes read-only history and stops counting toward your project limit, but its Earnout Ledger (BETA) stays live, so each deal's earnout is still tracked period by period. The Buy and Build lists the deals in it, and the family is archived together; an open earnout keeps running on an archived deal until it is settled. A divestiture needs every TSA service exited first. It cannot be undone.

The owner of both projects, or an account owner or admin.

Copy, transfer, or start the next deal from a template

What you have built on one project does not have to be built again.

Copy a project

A new project from one you already have: work plan, strategic direction, charters, roadmap, synergies, scorecard, stakeholders, TSA, cadence, reports and members. Meetings and transcripts, documents, deals and the earnout stay behind. A copy counts toward your project limit.

Account owners and admins, from the project list.

BETA

Transfer to another account

Hand a project to another AtlanticM&A account, for example your client's at the end of an engagement. Its work plan, risks, meetings, sign-offs and Earnout Ledger (BETA) go with it; people and their access, documents and data room files do not. Deal Value and Earnout arrive switched off for the receiving account to switch on. The project leaves your account, and the receiving account needs room under its project limit.

Account owners and admins, from the project's settings.

Save as a template

Mark a project as a template and new projects in your account can start from it: workstreams, tasks, phases and synergy categories, with task owners, dates and progress cleared and no actuals, and a default meeting slot for each workstream. Templates do not count toward your project limit, and a template can be turned back into a project.

How a transfer worksBETA

Step by step, from your project's settings to the other account.

  1. 1Start it

An account owner or admin opens the project's settings and enters the recipient's email address.

  2. 2Checks

Templates, sandboxes, and a Buy and Build or the deals in it cannot be transferred. The receiving account needs room under its project limit.

Then one of two paths

The email belongs to one AtlanticM&A account

The project moves to that account straight away.

No account yet, or more than one

  1. The recipient is emailed a link that works for 14 days.
  2. They sign in, or sign up, with the email address it was sent to.
  3. They accept, and the project moves to the account they are signed in to.

  1. 3On arrival

Deal Value and Earnout arrive switched off, with their data kept, for the receiving account to switch on. People and their access do not move, so the new owner adds its own team.

  2. 4Afterwards

The project leaves your account. Its documents and data room files do not move with it.

What BETA means on this page

Everything marked BETA works today. Each one leaves BETA when the condition below is met.
